Dubi – which means Teddy Bear in Hebrew – is a traveling ambassador from Israel. As part of this original initiative by UnitEd that strengthens the bonds between Jewish schools across Europe, schools pass Dubi from one to another, reinforcing the network and peer connections throughout the continent. The children, in turn, enjoy an experiential activity that enhances their Hebrew language experience while creating a sense of shared community and belonging to something bigger.
Dubi—a giant, friendly, fluffy, and soft teddy bear—arrives at each school with his passport and personal journal. He visits for several weeks and participates in the school's experiential activities, becoming part of the classroom family. The children, who delight in hosting him, stamp their school in his passport, take photos with him and write about their experiences with Dubi in his journal in Hebrew. In this journal, students can read the experiences of children from other Jewish schools across Europe before Dubi continues his journey to the next school.
