Founding Gibraltar’s First Jewish Day School

Identifying the Need

Gibraltar, a UK territory off the Spanish coast, is home to a small Jewish community. Until recently, Jewish children studied Jewish studies separately from general studies, for which they went to the local non-Jewish schools. About two years ago, on 2022, the Jewish community in Gibraltar initiated a 3-year growth process in partnership with PaJeS UK and UnitEd. As part of the process, it was decided to open the first Jewish day school in Gibraltar, to holistically integrate general studies with Jewish education.

Making It Happen

Within just 12 months, outstanding teachers were recruited, a curriculum was chosen, a structured system was built, a code of conduct was written, and a first-class school began operating as of September 2024!
The students are thriving, living the values of courage, respect, and kindness on a daily basis. This is what change looks like. This is education!
