Mission and Goals

With only less than 10% of approximately 1.34 million Jewish children in the United States attending Jewish day schools, Project Aleph Bet focuses on Jewish day schools and early childhood centers to increase enrollment, foster Jewish identities, and improve educational quality and connection to Israel.

About the Initiative

The initiative represents an unprecedented collaboration between Israeli government agencies, North American foundations, and educational organizations, all committed to creating a renaissance in Jewish day school education for generations to come. In the first phase of the initiative, partnerships were formed with 6 organizations in North America, each working through different approaches to increase the number of students in Jewish schools.

The Lauder Impact Initiative (LII) launched in February 2025 its inaugural gathering in Miami Florida of 5 schools focused on improving the value proposition of Jewish education and changing the perception held by some on the quality of Jewish day school education. LII is one of seven initiatives and cohort members of Project Aleph Bet.
UnitEd, the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, JFNA, and Prizmah held a session on the importance for the North American Jewish community to invest significantly into Jewish Day Schools. Over 100 federation chiefs, philanthropists, and foundation professionals attended the event that took place in New York on June 2025.
